Discover some of Sofia’s most iconic and intriguing landmarks – all gathered in one place.
A lot of guided tours are available around – some are even free like the Sofia Walking Tour, available in English and Spanish. You can also hop on a sightseeing bus, but walking around does the job just as well. This way you won’t miss the small hidden beauties in Sofia – a city rich with history, combining ancient ruins, communist buildings and futuristic architecture.
We suggest taking a walk down the Yellow Cobblestones of Sofia (Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd). You will see the main sights – starting from the Boris Garden, passing down through Eagles’ Bridge to the University. Continuing further you will see Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with its golden domes. Right next to it is the Gallery, the Royal palace, and the “Largo” – the three massive buldings housing the Presidency, Parliament and the Central shop. Continuing onto Vitosha boulevard, you will see the Sveta Nedelya Church. While enjoying the breathtaking views of Vitosha mountain, walk trough Sofia’s main shopping street, filled with restaurants and cafes. At the end you will reach NDK (National Palace of Culture) – one of the key spots in the city, where the liveliness can be felt. But don’t be mistaken – many more is left to see – just wander around!
